Welcome to The Online Bookseller UK!

The idea for this blog has been in my head for a very long time, but has taken until now to actually come to any kind of meaningful fruition. Procrastination? Moi? Yes, guilty as charged.

Just to quickly introduce myself, my name is Matt. I first started selling used books on Amazon UK in 2009 for a fairly brief stint. I learned the (very) basics, but for one reason or another, the time wasn’t right for me to jump in head first.

I continued sourcing books to sell on a part time basis, but was handing them over to a mate who handled fulfilment (and it turns out, helped himself to a lot of cash at my expense). In hindsight, it wasn’t the most lucrative arrangement that I have ever got myself into. You live and learn.

Fast forward to 2018, and the time was very much right to jump in – I became a full time Amazon seller.

I’ve always sold Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM). There are plenty of resources online (websites, YouTube videos, Facebook groups, Reddits, etc, etc, etc) created by Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) sellers, but I find that none of these truly speak to me and fully resonate with me as a FBM seller.

It’s also the case that a lot of the resources online are very much focused on and in the United States. These resources are helpful to a point, but again, don’t quite speak to me and resonate fully with me as a seller in the United Kingdom.

I therefore wanted to create this blog to redress the balance. To help new sellers who are just starting out and learning the ropes; and also to connect with other more experienced sellers with wisdom to share.

Despite what I said above about the US FBA seller resources that are out there, I have learned a lot from them and incorporated a lot of hints, tips and methods into my way of doing things. We all have our own way of doing things, and we have to chart our own course.

I’ve always focused my time and efforts on Amazon, and only very recently have dipped a toe into the eBay world – just one sale under my belt so far. I therefore can’t offer very much at all in the way of advice on eBay matters, but am very keen to learn, and provide a platform for sellers to collaborate and help each other out.

I’ve set up a Facebook page, and will in due course be setting up a Facebook group.

This is the first blog I’ve ever created, so please come with me on this journey!
